Confucius comments on his pupils and followers. He says, Cai is stupid and straight; Can is slow-witted; Shi is less balanced and proportioned in his views and You is rude and rash.
Appreciation& Critical Comments
Here Confucius points out respective particular demerits of his four pupils. Confucius believes that if one over-leavens his demerits, it is almost impossible to him to reach the sphere of being a saint, a man of consummation. One should exceed his present self by constant efforts to do away with demerits and strive for excellence if he wishes to make himself a virtuous and gracious man.
